One of the reasons that I gravitated to style as a passion is that in my view it becomes a wonderful form of self-expression. There are certain rough guidelines to follow that become the framework for what is acceptable, but beyond that there are so many ways to put your own spin on those guidelines, which means virtually anything goes.  So, with that in mind, I wanted to introduce you to some great new friends that I have made along the way as well as provide you with some top fashion trends of the season from their perspective.

1. This season the military trend is the way to go.

This chic military trend is brought to you courtesy of Style to Envy, the great style team of Nikki and Val who have recently launched their own style service business. (In fact, stay tuned during the month of November as I tell you all about my experience working with them during my style appointment.) This piece shows you how you can take the military trend with you no matter the occasion, these talented ladies have created three separate looks that are all perfect options to rock the military trend.

2. Peplum and a Great Bootie Should  Always be on the Top of Your Shopping List

If you have been following along on my style journey, you know about my love of peplum to create shape, and a great bootie to rock for fall. Now, I want to introduce you to another great style icon who feels the same. Let me introduce you to the Virtual Style Diary of Lynne Gabriel. Lynn has a unique style and a love of fashion that she can trace back to childhood. If you love this outfit as much as I do, head over to her site where you can sign up to be her fashion BFF and never miss her style inspiration.

3. You Do Not Always Need to Take the Runway Literally

I know that a lot of women often struggle with how to take those runway looks and incorporate them into their everyday life. That is why I love this next post. LaShic Mondrell is not only providing a great style and color report, she is also showing you how to use that information to create some great looks that you could actually wear in your everyday life. In fact, you may even have some of these great pieces in your closet already.

4. Show You Are On Trend By Incorporating the Color of the Year: Emerald Anyone?

Our next tip comes from Julia from Buxom Chick and she is talking all about the color of the year.

AS WE ALL KNOW, PANTONE DECLARED EMERALD THE COLOR OF THE YEAR.  THIS CAN BE INCORPORATED USING A STATEMENT PIECE IN YOUR WARDROBE LIKE A CUTE PENCIL SKIRT OR DRESS.  FOR THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF FUNDS, YOU CAN DO NAIL POLISH LIKE RGB NAILPOLISH IN SEA $16.  FOR THE SAME PRICE OR LESS, YOU CAN PROBABLY FIND A PAIR OF CUTE FLATS AT ROSS DRESS FOR LESS.  ALSO BEEN SEEING ALOT OF THE WINTER WHITE AND BLUSH PINK BELIEVE IT OR NOT!

5. When  The Opportunity Presents Itself Always Shop For A Cause

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while I have not been directly impacted by breast cancer itself, I have been impacted by other forms of cancer in my life, so whenever I am able to in anyway fund that research I am always on board. This month on the blog, Barbara Mizzoni Young from All My Lives Now introduced you to a great way to lend your voice to a worthy cause in The 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. So, this season, take another step forward for the cause and think pink.

6.  Always Make a Statement With Your Nails

Barielle 'I Got A Headache' Swatch

We always spend a great deal of time crafting the perfect look to share with the world. However, there are times that we overlook one of the simplest style elements in our arsenal and that is the perfect nail color. Today though, we can eliminate that issue by following this great guide brought to you by Angela from Hairspray and High Heels. She is bringing you the latest and greatest in all things nail by showcasing this fabulous new collection of totally nude shades. These are a definite must have for fall.

7. When in Doubt Find a Great Designer

I know that there are times in life when you search for that one great look that you envision, and despite the fact that you have searched every store imaginable, you still come up empty. When that happens in your life, the answer is to find a great designer in your area that can help make your dream a reality. For that, I want to introduce you to Jaded Kisses, a great place to bring your visions to life by working with a great designer.

8. Look at Your Closet in a New Light

Every new season does not necessarily mean that you need to rush out to the stores and add an entirely new wardrobe to your collection in order to seem fashion forward. Instead, you need to take the time to look at your closet in a new light and find ways to make what you already own come off as on trend. A great example of how to accomplish this comes to us from Best Face Forward where their video talks about All Things Fall and demonstrates how you can use a few basic pieces to create a mutlitude of fashion forward looks.

9. When it comes to Hairstyles, Look For Ways to Mix it Up and Save Time

If you are looking to mix up your style look and save time, opt for a clip in hair extension. I am a big fan of anything that can save time during my morning routine, and I have found that in a pinch, these can be a lifesaver. Check out some of my favorite options in my recent post entitled How to Choose Clip in Hair Extensions.

10. Never Take Yourself Too Seriously Fashion is Meant to Be Fun

One of the joys of fashion as I said before is that it is a form of self-expression, use it that way. Be confident in who you are and embrace your style. Worry less about what others think and spend more of your time enjoying who you are.
