Choosing the Perfect Blazer
The blazer is one of those wardrobe essentials that has made a huge transformation in recent years. No longer do we select the all important black blazer and move on about our day. There are so many more options and so many more ways to style it that your blazer selection now becomes an extension to your style personality, so it is important to choose wisely.

Style Elements
Start by looking for the all important style elements in your wardrobe selection. Look for things like the piping detail of the yellow blazer or contrasting leather sleeves of the black short jacket. Those style elements will add instant interest to any outfit and will become the centerpiece of your entire look. My favorite jacket to wear is a fitted black blazer that has white piping detail at the collar and at the pockets. I always get compliments when I wear it because its something different and most people have never seen one.
Length
Next, consider the length of your blazer or jacket. You need two different options in your closet. The first one of course is the one that we typically think of for going to the office. This blazer will rest just above the hip and will be suitable for office wear, dressing up with denim, or pairing with a distressed capri for a day look. The other option that you need to invest in is the shorter version that you see featured above in black. The short blazer is a great way to create height. When you wear this version with a longer shirt, it gives you instant height.
Color
Your final consideration when selecting a blazer is color. Remember that fashion is supposed to be fun. If your closet is filled with only neutrals, then add a pop of color. The blazer can be worn in both business and casual settings so color is an important fashion element as you seek to add interest. Look for bright, unexpected colors that you can pair with patterns to create a unique look. I have a pink casual blazer that I pair with a floral short, a white tank, and a dressy sandal for dinners during the summer.
This spring and summer have fun and add some interest to your wardrobe with a great blazer. Fashion is what you make of it so it may as well be fun. Now, its your turn to sound off. How will you wear your blazer this season?

Hello,
Saw your blog on YOLO! I love blazers as well, but have such a hard time finding the right fit. I’m 5 feet tall and plus sized; the sleeves are almost always too long or the blazer looks too boxy. Any tips for the vertically challenged?

Find a blazer that fits your frame even if the sleeves are too long…take the blazer to a tailor at your local cleaners and they can easily alter the sleeves
Very good tips, thank you! I like a soft, knit blazer with easy lines. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
I adore the blue blazer, it is so pretty!

I love blazers and will continue to wear them even when I’m no longer in the workforce. Particularly like the striped one and the yellow with piping!
